Jimmy Flynt leaves Hustler name behind, plans expansion
Legal battles with his brother aside, Jimmy Flynt insists the porn business is treating him well these days.
“I’m doing a good business here and I hope the business continues,” said the owner of Jimmy Flynt’s Erotic Boutique, formerly known as Hustler Cincinnati on downtown's Elm Street.
You may have read our recent coverage that Larry Flynt, publisher of Hustler magazine, won a court order against his brother. Jimmy Flynt is now banned from using the Hustler name on retail outlets, including the store he opened in downtown Cincinnati more than a decade ago.
But Jimmy Flynt says that won’t stop his growth plans. He has four new stores “on the drawing board” for 2012, including suburban locations in Cleveland and Toledo. Michigan stores are planned in Detroit and Lansing.
All will operate under the Jimmy Flynt name.
In the meantime, Jimmy Flynt’s lawyer said the legal battle between the brothers will flare up again next year when U.S. District Judge William Bertelsman takes up a series of wrongful termination complaints filed against Larry Flynt in the last few years.
“We haven’t tried all the issues because the court wanted to first deal with the partnership then the trademark issues,” said Bob Hojnoski, a partner in the Cincinnati office of Reminger Co. LPA. “Wrongful termination is next.”
