Chris Santoni and Michael Pelagalli Obtain Unanimous Defense Verdict in Favor of Physician and Medical Practice
In a wrongful death case against a physician and medical practice, Attorneys Christine Santoni and Mike Pelagalli obtained a unanimous defense verdict.
The case involved the death of a 58-year-old woman who presented to a hospital’s emergency department with necrotizing pancreatitis that ultimately led bowel perforation within 24 hours. Plaintiff claimed that our physician failed to timely diagnose the necrotizing pancreatitis and prevent the patient’s death. After several days of trial, the plaintiff asked the jury to return a verdict in the amount of $2.8 million.
The jury returned a unanimous defense verdict on standard of care after less than two hours of deliberation.
