CLEVELAND, OH - Reminger Co., LPA is pleased to announce that Probate Administration, Trust Administration and Guardianships Practice Group Co-Chair Adam M. Fried was recently elected a Fellow to the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).
ACTEC is an organization of trust and estate lawyers and law professors who have been elected by their peers in recognition of having made outstanding contributions to the practice of trust and estate law.
Adam represents clients in numerous types of probate disputes that challenge estate planning documents and transfers of wealth, including will contests, trust disputes, charges of undue influence and the fraudulent use of powers of attorney. Adam seeks to defend the claims and enforce the rights of heirs, beneficiaries, trustees, executors, guardians, family members and other aggrieved parties.
Adam is highly respected in the legal community, recognized for his level of excellence as both an Ohio Super Lawyer and as one of the "Best Lawyers in America,” including as “Best Lawyers’ Lawyer of the Year 2015 – Litigation – Trusts & Estates – Cleveland.” He is a nationally renowned lecturer on topics such as litigation strategies, pursuit and proof of undue influence and incompetence claims, and financial exploitation of the elderly. Adam has been invited to lecture to the American Academy of Forensic Psychiatrists and the Law. He has also lectured at the Pliskin Institute, Ohio's premier advanced estate planning institute. Adam has also joined the faculty of the Cleveland Marshall College of Law as an Adjunct Professor, where he teaches wills, trusts and estates.
Adam has committed himself to the education of the community regarding the phenomena of financial exploitation and elder abuse. He has been appointed to the board of the Consortium Against Adult Abuse, a five-county task force charge with developing plans and strategies and education to help the community prevent against financial abuse of the elderly. He was also appointed by the Cuyahoga County Probate Court of the Cuyahoga County Steering Committee created for the purpose of developing strategies to coordinate services among a wide spectrum of professionals in an effort to prevent at-risk adults from falling through the cracks.
Adam has also been appointed as a member of the Ohio State Bar Association Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Section Council. The Council concentrates its efforts on exploring the current state of the law relevant to estate, probate, and trust practitioners and their clients and developing, writing, and lobbying for legislation and/or fixes to current statues as drafted by the committee.
